يحوى الاصدار الجديد مجموعه من اشهر البرامج مثل : Movie Maker صانع الافلام, Mail البريد, Messenger الماسنجر, Writer المحرر, مزامن الملفاتSync, برنامج العائله الامن Family Safety
وحسب الإعلان الرسمى فقد حرص فريق تطوير Windows Live في مايكروسوفت على الاستفاده الى أقصى حد من نظام تشغيل الويندوز 7 ، حيث أن جميع التطبيقات في الإصدار الجديد متوافقه مع تشغيل الوينوز 7 بإستخدام ميزه القفز للقوائم Jumplists التى تُميّز أحدث انظمة تشغيل مايكروسوفت لاجهزة الحاسب .
كذلك تم تطوير برنامج مزامنة الملفات ، ليسمح بانسيابيه هائله عند مزامنة الملفات سواء على الويب ، أو حتى بين مجموعة أجهزه على شبكه واحده .
التطوير في الإصدار الجديد شمل ايضا برنامج الجاليري الاشهر Windows Live Photo Gallery باضافه خواص جديده لدمج وتحرير الصور ، بالاضافه لتقنيه improved facial recognition اوتدقيق و تمييز الوجوه .
